Kids Say the Darnedest Things

Parker's vocabulary has really been increasing, so naturally she has been saying some really funny/crazy things. I keep telling myself that I am going to start writing these things down. They are just too funny not to. Since I am starting this on a Wednesday, each week will hopefully have a new saying or comment that has come out of this precious child's mouth. The other day, Jeff and I were arguing about what to play on the iPod; Parker huffs and says, " you guys are wearing me out!". We had to turn our heads away not to show her that we were laughing.

Another day this week Parker made it a point to get out all of her shoes and put them in their own individual bag, lunch box or other storing tool. I had asked her a million times to clean up this shoe store in the kitchen. Finally, I just started doing it on my own. I happened to forget a couple of toys, so I asked her to pick those up. She responds with " well, you forgot them". I responded with "what?" "Mommy, you were cleaning them up and forgot to get them, so you have to pick them up". Needless to say we had a nice conversation about WHO actually made the mess.

There is typically not a day that goes by and she hasn't said something ridiculous or hilarious.

Happenings So Far..

To be quite honest, we have been completely LAZY and useless this first week or so of summer. We have done a lot of swimming, lying around and more swimming. We have mainly just been enjoying the fact that we can sleep in and lounge around without anything to do! The only thing we have made sure to do is count down the days until we go to Florida. We are all super excited to go and now we are at 4 days until we leave! We have our new bathing suits, snacks, activities to keep us busy and excitement about going.

This past weekend was kind of a big deal in our house. Jeff's birthday was Saturday and then Father's Day was Sunday. We were hoping to make it an all about Jeff special weekend. We usually try and pick just one gift that he would like because it can get a little pricey and difficult to buy a gift for each day. He chose  a new radio/cd player whatever for his bronco, so that is what he got. Parker made sure to work hard on a birthday card and Father's day card for him (which included tons of smiley faces; her new favorite thing to draw/write). Parker and I also planned to get up Sunday before church and make him a special breakfast. We knew he liked french toast, so I we prepared it very nicely. She and I also braved making a carrot cake for him as well for his birthday. I have never made a carrot cake and was surprised at the amount of carrots that actually goes into it. She and I had a good time making it and it turned out pretty well too. I didn't take hardly any pictures but did get a shot of Parker working hard on the cake and our Father's day breakfast.

Here are a couple of pictures of all the exciting things that we have been doing this summer so far.

VBS

Parker is attending her first vacation bible school this week and alone at that. It has been a nice vacation thing for her to do for a couple of hours. I have been very proud of her going in and sitting with her friends without chasing me out of the door. I'm happy that she is hearing more of God's word while giving me an hour or so work out,  clean or just sit.( I enjoy the last the most)

She and I have also been trying to hit the pool each day to work on our tans for Florida, but this week we have enjoyed taking afternoon naps more. When your kid asks to take a nap, you happily oblige her! Next week we will have to work really hard at developing our beach tan. Next Sunday we will be on our way to Florida and the beach. Can't wait!!

Couple of pictures from this week: She didn't want her picture taken and she thinks she is a rock star!

Days 1 and 2 of Summer Break

After a long year of driving to and from Pine Bluff, leaving at the crack of dawn, and working hard all year teaching, I am finally reaping the benefits of being a teacher. The plan was supposed to go like this: sleep in, lounge around, swim, lounge around some more, and then some more. It didn't quite go that way. Parker woke up at the butt crack of dawn too early, spent the morning cleaning, working out, cleaning some more, and then we got to do some swimming/laying out. Day 2 was going to be better. Kid slept in until 7:30 (much better), we lounged around, practiced reading and rhyming, went to watch Kung Fu Panada, lunch with daddy, and then hit the pool. Currently, we are lounging some more while watching Tangled (the best movie ever). I sure hope the rest of the summer goes this well. Family vacay to Florida in 16 days, so that will be a much needed break for us all as well. Can't wait!!

I Promise I'll Stay Caught Up

It seems that just when I am ahead on my blog; I get behind again! Hopefully this summer I will be able to keep up with the blog pretty consistently. I can not wait until I am at home for the summer!!! I have 1 more day of school until I am out for the summer and have completed one year of teaching. For the  most part it has gone extremely well and I have lost my mind learned plenty of things through a ton of trial and error. Currently I'm in the process of finding a new school to work at due to the immense of driving I have been doing to and from Pine Bluff. Interviews are slowly coming my way and hopefully something promising happens and close to home! I miss taking and picking up Parker from school and just being close to civilization!! Our family is also heading to Florida at the end of this month and I am beyond excited about that. This is the first time Jeff has been since forever ago. He hasn't been with Parker on the beach, so that will be an exciting time. Its time for me to prepare for Jeff's birthday and Father's this month as well, so there will be plenty going on! Here's to actually keeping up with my blog!

Traveler's Game

A million years ago we went to a Traveler's game thanks to the state accounting department, but I have been awful at keeping up with my blog. Now that I am about out for the summer, it shouldn't be too difficult to keep up with. Jeff's previous department provided all we could eat burgers and hot dogs and tickets to watch the game. We of course took advantage of the food and drinks; but we didn't watch too much of the game. We spent most of our time watching Parker play in the unsupervised play area. Parker loves  playing, jumping and sliding on the inflatable whatever you call those things. She always manages to find a friend wherever she goes, so that kept her entertained as well. Enjoy the pictures!
